Origins of Climate Change

Climate Change's story began in 1896 when Swedish chemist Svante Arrhenius discovered that putting Co2 in the atmosphere could make the earth warmer.

No one took him seriously at the time and it was only during the cold war was when scientists began to take notice of the earth's temperature rising. When 1988 was recorded as the hottest year at the time, it got the people's attention in the mainstream media, 13 years after Global Warming was first mentioned in a research paper. British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher was one of the first global leaders to talk about climate change. Currently, Swedish activist Greta Thunberg has been campaigning for climate change and since her campaign became global, many people and companies have been doing their bit to help slow down climate change like car manufactures making more low emission cars, coal mines being shut down and solar panels appearing rapidly.
