Leonid Brezhnev's Coffin Trouble
Leonid Brezhnev, the 5th Leader of the Soviet Union who used the Soviet economy on the nuclear arms, died of a heart attack in November 1982. Despite being dressed in his marshal uniform, he couldn't rest in peace when his body fell through the bottom of his original coffin at the Column Hall of the House of Unions. He was placed in a new metal plated coffin but the weight of it was too much for the men lowering him into his grave by the Kremlin Wall just behind Lenin's mausoleum which resulted in the lower part of the coffin falling into the grave with a crash! To make matters worse, this moment was caught on camera and has been featured in documentaries that brings up his death, mainly Russian history documentaries. He was supposed to be lowered simultaneously to the chimes of the nearby bell.
