Destalinisation
In February 1956, in a speech intended to be secret, Nitika Khrushchev announced his plans to dismantle Stalinism and the cult of personality left behind by Joseph Stalin which left a profound impact on the Soviet Union. The "secret speech" was published publically a month later and saw places named after Stalin being renamed (Stalingrad became Volgograd) statues of Stalin being taken down and on Halloween 1961, Stalin was buried in the Kremlin Wall Necropolis.
