Between 1951 and 1992, a section of the Nevada desert was dedicated to testing nuclear weapons which cost the lives of the cast and crew members of the Conqueror (1956 film) because the government told them it was ok to film there as tests posed no health hazards and
the films cast and crew ended dying of cancer as a side effect of radiation exposure. Now this area is called the Nevada National Security Site where famed top secret air force testing base Area 51 is located.
