February Revolution (1917)
The February Revolution (despite occurring in March from 8th to 16th due to the switch to the Gregorian calendar which is 12 days ahead of the Julian calendar) saw the end of the Russian Empire. The empire ended when Tsar Nicholas abdicated without a successor and the Romanovs were forced to become private citizens. The Russian civilians hated the Tsar's absolute monarch power as well as the rations and war fatigue SO MUCH that even the army turned their back on Nicholas.
In July 1918, The Romanovs (including Anastasia) were shot and killed in the now demolished Ipatiev House where they were forced to stay until Lenin decided their faith. It wasn't until 1979 was when they were discovered and they were given a proper burial in 1998.
