Kosovo Independence (1990s-2008)
Kosovo was part but there was one problem, 90% of the population were ethnic Albanians. They wanted their own government but Serbia who had lost all other parts of Yugoslavia and had a Serbian minority, resisted. Backed by the UN, Kosovans were given their own government. In 2008, Kosovo declared its own independence.
