Turkish Evil Eye

While found in many cultures, the evil eye (or Nazar amulet) was created to repel spirits by Turkish people. The Evil eye is a light blue eye on an ocean blue glass disc. The evil eye can also come in the form of a bead. The amulet's purpose is to keep you safe from harm and is mostly about protection than good luck. Traditionally, people hang the amulet on almost everything and it is common practice for it to be put around the house. The evil eye wears and cracks over time but it isn't bad omen but rather it means that the evil eye bead has done its job and you and your loved ones are safe. It does however need to be replaced one the evil eye bead breaks to continue the protection from evil spirits. While any souvenir shop in Turkey has evil eye trinkets for sale, the Turkish village of Nazarkoy is known as the evil eye village as it gets its name from the number of glass amulets you'll find there!
