The Execution of King Louis 16th/ XVI
Following the storming of the Bastille, King Louis the 16th (XVI in Roman numerals) of France and his family were transferred from their iconic palace in Versailles to Paris. He turned down both abdication and advice from advisors and instead opted to escape to the eastern frontier to Austria where Marie Antoinette came from in June 1791 but they (their children included) were brought back to Paris after being caught in the town of Varennes-en-Argonne. Louis was forced to accept the constitution that was drawn up during the French Revolution. The monarchy was dissolved by the National Convention (the successor to the National Assembly) in September 1792 and having been put on trial in November of that year, Louis was convicted and condemned to death in January 1793. He was beheaded on 21 January 1793 followed by Marie Antoinette on 16 October of that year. As for their children, Louis-Charles was locked in a cell and was mistreated until his death from tuberculosis (abbreviated to TB) at the age of 10. Much like Anastasia Romanov, Louis-Charles had imposters claiming to be him and like Ana it took until the 21st century to confirm with enough evidence that he didn't escape for a happier and private life. His sister Marie Therese lived a long life however and became France's queen during the 1830 Revolution for 20 minutes. She died at the age of 72 and is buried in Slovenia.
