BBC Television Centre Bombing 2001
On 4 March 2001 at 12:30AM GMT, a car bomb detonated outside of the main news centre of the BBC which at the time was housed in BBC Television Centre located in London's White City area. Those in the area survived that night with only one person suffering from an eye injury. The BBC cameras caught the moment of the explosion as well as the damage from the result of the explosion. As daylight broke, numerous windows in the buildings front entranced were discovered to be smashed. The bombing was carried out by the Real IRA who would later play a part in the killing of Northern Ireland based journalist Lyra McKee in 2019. Those who were involved in the bombing were given prison sentences.
