IRA Attacks
Originally, the IRA (Irish Republican Army) was set up during the Irish War of Independence but were outlawed following the Public Safety Act 1923 were by that point they were against the Anglo Irish Treaty which gave Ireland dominion status instead of total independence. By the 1950s, they started ambushes along the Northern Irish border in what was called Operation Harvest which lasted from 1956 until 1962. Following the Battle of the Bogside of 1969, the IRA split into the Official IRA and the Provisional IRA with the latter being the most active during the Troubles. They even bombed the hotel that The Omen director Richard Donner was staying at as well as a restaurant the cast and crew were to attend in an unrelated event.
