HMHS Britannic Sinking (21 Nov 1916)

Originally meant to be a passenger ship and shared its name with the SS Britannic, this nearly forgotten sister ship of the Titanic became a hospital ship due to the outbreak of World War 1. The HMHS Britannic's function as a hospital ship meant that it was carrying sick or wounded soldiers who were being cared for on board. On 21 November 1916, it struck an underwater mine off the coast of Greece and sank. A Titanic survivor, Vicky Jessop would not only survive this sinking but also the collision of the Olympic with a much smaller harbour ship in the 1930s.
