Vietnamese Invasion of Cambodia
In late 1978, 1978, Vietnamese troops entered Cambodia's borders and on 7 January 1979, they seized the Cambodian capital of Phnom Pehn, toppling the Khmer Rouge that was powered by Pol Pot's cruel and brutal dictatorship.
Pol Pot's regime. Pol Pot was a communist dictator and his regime was so bad that no one was allowed to have jewellery or go to school! Not even families could be together!
A war followed this that lasted 10 years and 9 months. After the war was over, the United Nations Transitional Authority in Cambodia monitored Cambodia until 1993 when a new constitution was ratified which restored the Cambodian monarchy.
