Kristallnacht (Night of Broken Glass)

On 9 November 1938, an anti-Semitic act of terror committed by the Nazis was carried out on Jews in Nazi Germany which consisted Germany and Austria. This was the Night of Broken Glass or Kristallnacht (Crystal Night) and it saw synagogues (Jewish place of worship) torched, business, schools and home of Jewish people vandalised, as many as 100 Jews killed and 30,000 Jewish men arrested before being shipped off to concentration camps like Auschwitz or Bergen-Belsen. This was done by the Nazis because they blamed the Jews for Germany's economic struggle in the 1920s. This night of terror was only a horrible foretaste of what was to come for Jews living in Europe, that being the Holocaust.
